Our program

Educational Principles

We provide Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training for recognizing the environment, building self-confidence and optimizing the use of the senses.

2. To provide vocational training

Providing vocational training to blind children is essential, as it equips them with practical skills for independence, employment, and full participation in society.

3. To provide entrepreneurship

It empowers blind children to create their own opportunities, build confidence, and contribute actively to the economy and society.

1. To provide formal education, specifically inclusive education

Providing formal, inclusive education ensure that blind children can learn alongside their peers, fostering equal opportunities, social integration, and lifelong empowerment.

It helps ensure that students receive guidance, care, and a supportive environment that fosters both personal growth and academic success.

4. To provide parenting for students who stay in dormitory
Daily activities

At Onipedistra, the kids take part in a variety of daily activities that strengthen their independence and creativity. These include handicrafts, such as making feather dusters, as well as musical practice: the children sing together, rehearse songs for church performances, and learn instruments like the keyboard or cajón. Practical skills are also part of the program – for example, making soap or learning Braille. In addition, there are English lessons, gymnastics to improve movement and body awareness, and feeding catfish in the school’s pond. This way, the children experience a diverse everyday routine that combines education, creativity, and community.

Dormitory

Our students live on the property of Onipedistra. The dorms are seperated in girls' and boys' dorms. They clean the dorms themselves and get themselves ready for school every day. In their free time they like to hang out with each other outside or in their dorms. They also do their laundry regularly.

Our Work on the Sustainable
Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 global objectives set by the United Nations to address challenges like poverty, inequality, climate change, and environmental degradation by 2030. They are necessary because they provide a shared blueprint for peace, prosperity, and sustainability, ensuring future generations can thrive on a healthy planet.
